- The Highway Division is committed to providing high-quality asphalt repairs for public roads and sidewalks. However, please note that our maintenance work does not extend to private ways or alleyways. Under the Town of Brookline General By-Laws, a street is defined as a public way. As such, the Highway Division is responsible for maintaining public ways only. Private ways and alleys are not part of the Town’s roadway system, and repairs, such as potholes, are the responsibility of the abutting property owners. -
